Coach & Club Forum on delivering Disability Programmes
Herts Tennis and Middlesex LTA are excited to announce a joint venture in offering a Coach and Club forum on Delivering Disability Programmes. We will show how your county Open Court Team can support you as clubs and coaches to start or continue to build a programme that supports players with disabilities in their local community. This event will be relevant to both club committees, open court leads and coaches.
DATE/TIME: Thursday, 21st November 2024, 10.00am – 1.00pm
VENUE: Gosling Sports Park, Stanborough Road, Welwyn Garden City, AL8 6XE
This forum is FREE of charge and for coaches CPD credits will be available through LTA Independent Learning.
Plan for the day
- Welcome and outline of the disability tennis support available for clubs and coaches and how to start or grow their disability tennis programmes.
- On court Learning Disabled example session with practical delivery ideas run by Jon Wildman (head coach of Get Set 4 Tennis) with a Q+A session after.
- Wheelchair tennis on court practical session run by Stuart Wilkinson (GB Wheelchair Coach) with a Q+A session after. Attendees who would like to bring a player they work with are welcome to.
- Networking opportunities.
- Light refreshments will be available.

Herts Tennis Coaches Forum
Herts Tennis work with the Herts Tennis Coaches Forum (formerly Working Group) to support all LTA accredited coaches and coaching assistants working in Hertfordshire venues. They are a group of hard working, committed coaches working to provide additional fresh and exciting Continuous Professional Development opportunities for all coaches in our county and beyond as well as providing annual first aid training courses. First Aid Courses (EFAW) January 2025
The Herts Tennis Coaches Forum Group have again organised two First Aid Courses for early January. These are the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) courses required for LTA Coach Accreditation and are heavily subsidised by the Forum Group to support you with a greater discount for Coaches working in a registered Herts venue. The Dates/Venue are as follows and places are limited and strictly on a first come first served basis with payment required to confirm your place:

Growing a Tennis Business parts 1 & 2
UCoach has set up a two part online business course for coaches wanting to increase their business knowledge and skills. The courses are being run by David Martins who is an expert in this field. Each course qualifies for 2 licence credits through Independent Learning

LTA Youth Tennis Leaders Course 7th December 2024
The LTA Youth Tennis Leaders Course is aimed at 11 – 18 year olds. The programme provides young people, whatever their tennis ability, with the opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills both on and off the court. This is the first step on a tennis and sports career path for volunteering and paid employment.
The course will cover three modules:
Module 1: Introduction to tennis
Module 2/3: Leading a practice session/Helping at a Competition
Date: Saturday, 7th December 2024, 9am – 1pm

LTA Youth Start
Following on from the very successful Tennis for Kids programme, the LTA have launched a new programme. LTA Youth Start is for kids aged 4-11 years who are new to tennis. Forget standing around waiting for your turn to hit a forehand, think dynamic sessions catered for all abilities designed to help kids to learn new life skills developing them both as players and as people.
For £29.99 (+ £5 postage and packing) kids can access the following:
Six top-class tennis sessions with specially trained coaches
A tennis racket and set of balls
A branded t-shirt
Activity cards, a lanyard, stickers and a certificate (provided by the coach)
