Hertfordshire Men and Ladies in action at the Aegon Winter County Cup.

Hertfordshire ladies had a good weekend away at Bath playing their Group 1 matches against Surrey, Middlesex and Kent.

Friday was a bit of a tough day with the ladies losing 7 – 2 to a very strong Surrey, but Saturday was a much better day with a win over Middlesex 6 – 3.  On Sunday, the ladies played the eventual group winners Kent unfortunately losing 4 – 5 after a valiant effort. However they finished the weekend with a very credible third place overall.  Well done to our valiant ladies, Alissa Ayling, Amanda Elliott, Mollie Crouch, Katharine Whiteaway, Amelia Campbell, Anna Popescu, Danielle Latter and Indianna Spink on a very hard fought battle!

 

Meanwhile the Herts men travelled to Wirral for their group 2 match with a very strong team of Aljaz Bedene, Ed Corrie, David Rice, George Coupland, James Thomas, Hamid Hejazi, Josh Rose and James Wilkinson with Hamid and George arriving on the Saturday. Day one proved tough when Aljaz was unable to play in the singles due to an injury but the guys fought back from a 0-4 loss to even a 4-4 before finally losing in the No 2 doubles match. The next two days however continued to improve and resulted in the men winning their group guaranteeing them promotion back to Division 1 for 2017.
