Ivan Deb crowned world champion!

Hertfordshire’s own Ivan Rodriguez Deb from Watford has become the World Blind Tennis Champion. Playing at the championships in Lithuania in August, Ivan won every match in the B4 category.

Speaking to the BBC, Ivan spoke movingly about how his family had been a huge part of his tennis journey from getting involved in visually impaired tennis at the age of 13 to becoming GB number one and now world champion.

Ivan is a hugely inspirational individual and at Herts Tennis we have created a new county award called The Ivan R Deb Award in his honour. This award aims to recognise individuals with disabilities or long-term health conditions who have actively participated in and made a big impact in tennis or padel.
