Christmas Appeal for Ukraine

Carousel, News

Several clubs in our county have opened their doors and extended a warm welcome to refugees and Welwyn Tennis Club is launching a Ukraine Xmas Appeal. WTC Publicity Officer Terry Mackie tells us:

‘We currently have 12 guests in our club from that war-torn country who are refugees displaced by the Russian invasion.  Back in Ukraine their families, countrywomen, countrymen and children need all the help they can get as the winter and energy disruption bite.

Every penny raised on the platform Gofundme will go to the Red Cross Appeal, with gift aid. We will enable the latter as we pass on the total funds to our chosen charity who have been very supportive of our endeavour. We would be delighted if you could share our fundraising further afield.  Please give as generously as you can. Every penny, however small, counts a lot.’

To donate online:

  1. Click on this link: gofundme and follow the instructions on the page to donate by card, it is completely secure.
  2. The club can see the donations as they come in and the Appeal will cease on 31/12/22.
  3. Soon after, the total will be independently verified, withdrawn into a WTC account, gift aid will be applied and the whole club donation will pass to the Red Cross. We only have a notional target; the real aim is ‘love and charity’.
  4. The club will notify the membership and Herts Tennis of the total donations raised.

If you would prefer to not to pay online, you can send a cheque made out to “WTC” to:
